So the internet has been going crazy over the fact GENIE portrayed by Will Smith has not been seen blue yet. All the movie posters that have been shared online have all been of Will Smith with a new haircut, But NOT BLUE.
Now I am an artist and as an artist we, I, think a lot. Before I even saw the first official look of Genie I already had an idea of what I wanted to do with my Will Smith turning into blue genie drawing.
Growing up Aladdin was one of my favorite Disney movies, I used to watch all the time. The Disney animation is my childhood and automatically when I heard that they were going to turn it into a live action, I said ‘NOOOOOOOO’ However turning Disney movies into a Live action has become some sort of a TREND. People must be loving then or else they would have stopped it by now and would not have made movie like, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book and soon to be The Lion King and Aladdin.
Back to art talk. With this idea in my head, I just had to but it onto paper. So I started by using my woodless watercolor pencils and the water brush pens by Arteza. I will link the pens below.

At the start it was very messy, I had no idea what I was doing and did not know when I was going. But! I still had that idea in my head and I was going to make it happen, so I kept on going. Live streaming this on Twitch was interesting because you have other people watching and speaking their minds. Everyone was telling to put down this pencils and stop, but I told them to trust me.
Once the watercolor dried up ( I used a hair drier, I have 0 patience for watching paint dry) It was time to bring out the weapons of mass creation. My staedtler ballpoint pens, which I will also link below. Now with the pens I did not want to just use black because that is to basic. I want people to really have to look to be able to see Will Smith inside the Genie silhouette. So I used dark blue for the face and brown for lamp.

This is the complete drawing. I am so happy with the way that this drawing has turned out. I think it is better than the idea I had in my head. It not how you start but how you finish. Prints are available on my Etsy shop.
