A lot of people struggle with drawing realistic teeth, so I decided to create three separate tutorials using ballpoint pens and coloured pencils. I really hope you all enjoy the tutorials, I will be giving you a couple tips below.
STEP 1: COLOUR IDENTIFICATION
Aside from the main sketch, this is the main step in order to create a realistic drawing. I normally spend 10 minutes or so and really break down the reference photo and really peel back the layer. For a beginner, this can be a little challenging but after a few drawing, you will start to SEE colours better.
STEP 2: APPLY TEXTURE TO THE TEETH AND LET THE PAPER DO IT’S JOB
STEP 3: WORK IN LAYERS AND BUILD UP THE DRAWING SLOWLY
You would be surprised how many people make the mistake of rushing a drawing and not take the right steps to develop a really realistic drawing.
STEP 4: IT’S THE LITTLE DETAILS THAT MAKE THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE
Sometimes just adding a little extra yellow, darkening some area can really make the biggest difference. But there is a fine line because sometimes you can overdo it.
